Day of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Day of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BAS) will be celebrated on December 28, 2024.
On this occasion, the Director of the Institute, Mr. Aleksandar Todorović, organized a reception on December 10, 2024, for the presidents of BAS technical committees, retired presidents and members of BAS/TCs, as well as other distinguished guests. Plaques and certificates of appreciation were awarded during the event.
To mark the occasion, the Institute reviewed our achievements in 2024.
As is well known, the presidents of BAS technical committees, members, technical secretaries, and the leadership of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina work together on preparing, adopting, and publishing BAS standards and standardization documents.
As of December 22, 2024, the following accomplishments were achieved:
- 1,642 BAS standards and standardization documents were adopted.
- The Ex-Commission issued 31 expert opinions, 79 individual certificates, and 2 type certificates.
- The first supervisory audit of the integrated management system, quality management system, and information security management system was conducted, in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 27001:2013. It was concluded that the Institute complies with the requirements of these standards, and certification was approved.
- A Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Institute and the „Association of Architecture Students“ from Sarajevo, enabling students online access to BAS standards and standardization documents published by the Institute, respecting copyright and related rights. The agreement was signed by the Director Aleksandar Todorović on behalf of the Institute and the President of Students Association Nerma Pločo on behalf of the Association.
In accordance with obligations from the agreements, the leadership of the Institute also participated in:
- The 83rd General Assembly of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) held in Sophia Antipolis, France from April 16–17, 2024). The leadership also participated in 16th CEN and CENELEC Joint General Assembly held on June 26, 2024 and the 60th CEN General Assembly and 66th CENELEC General Assembly in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (June 27, 2024) as well as the 46th ISO General Assembly, which was held online on September 12, 2024, in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. From October 21–25, 2024 the 87th General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was held in Edinburgh, Scotland and was also attedned by the leadership of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
· Representatives of the Institute participated in symposiums, consultations, scientific and professional gatherings, summits, conferences, regional meetings, and fairs.
· The end of the March 2024 was marked by a visit of the Director of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia, Ms. Tatjana Bojanić, and the Director of the Croatian Standards Institute, Mr. Igor Božičević.
· At the 23rd International Infotech-Jahorina Symposium (March 20–22, 2024), the Institute for Standardization of BiH has presented two professional papers. The expert associate of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Miljan Vasković, presented a professional paper titled “Development and Specificities of the National Normative Aspect for Bosnia and Herzegovina according to the BAS EN 50341-1:2014“, co-authored by Assistant Professor Nada Cincar from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of East Sarajevo. Miljan Vasković also co-authored the paper „Analysis of the Impact of Additional Load on Overhead Electrical Lines in Bosnia and Herzegovina", authored by Associate Professor Aleksandar Simović from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of East Sarajevo, with co-authors Assistant Professor Nada Cincar and Dajana Božović, M.Sc.
· The 9th Balkan Standardization Conference was held in Bled on July 4–5, 2024. On behalf of the Institute the ex Deputy Director of the Institute Mr. Borislav Kraljević participated at the Conference.
· 90th Anniversary of Standardization in Serbia was marked in Belgrade on October 10–11, 2024. Director of the Institute for Standardization of BiH Mr. Aleksandar Todorović attended this significant anniversary.
· Three issues of the ISBIH Gazette were published (1/24, 2/24, 3/24).
- The Annual Report 2023 was published in both Serbian and English.
- CEN & CENELEC’s brochure on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting aspects was translated and published.
- 157 news articles were posted on the ISBIH website, regarding the Institute activities, participation in different events, calls for webinars on second generation of Eurocodes published at the web site of European Commission, calls for IEC webinars, translations of IEC, ISO and CEN & CENELEC news and articles, as well as other various events.
