From September 16 to 20, 2024, the 14th Conference on Electricity distribution was held in Kopaonik, organized by the CIRED National committee of Serbia. The event was attended by a large number of representatives from power utility organizations, electrical engineering faculties and institutes, project, production, and contractor companies from Serbia and the region.

CIRED's purpose is to enhance the business capabilities, skills, and knowledge of those participating in its activities. Every two years, CIRED organizes a conference and exhibition presenting the latest achievements and best practices in the technology and management of electricity distribution. Between conferences, CIRED organizes special working groups on current topics that are of key importance to the electricity distribution community.

As in previous years, the Conference included both scientific and commercial content. A total of 95 scientific papers were submitted for presentation, of which 82 were accepted, three roundtables were held, two keynote lectures, and an opening panel discussion. The commercial segment featured company presentations in the exhibition area and individual presentations from specific companies. More than 50 companies participated in the exhibition.

The main objectives of the Conference were to improve the electicity distribution sector in Serbia and in neighboring countries, which have a similar technical level of development and face similar challenges in the exploitation and management of distribution networks. Serbia, like other countries in the region, is at various stages of the restructuring, deregulation, and privatization of the electricity sector, but all face similar challenges with the opening of the electricity market. The Conference provided a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences regarding common issues in the development of technology, reorganization, and modernization of electricity distribution.

The Conference was primarily aimed at managers of electicity distribution companies, expert engineers, users and service providers of energy and other distribution equipment, manufacturers of energy and other distribution equipment, professors and researchers, consultants, designers, and the whole professional community in the field of electicity distribution, as well as interested individuals.

The participants of the 14th Conference on Electricity Distribution - CIRED, on behalf of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, were Goran Mrkaja, senior advisor for the Ex-Commission, and Miljan Vasković, expert associate for electrical engineering standardization.
