CEN and CENELEC General Assemblies
General Assemblies of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) were held in Amsterdam (Netherlands) on June 26 and 27, 2024. The host was the Royal Netherlands Standardization Institute (NEN). In the work of the General Assemblies Aleksandar Todorović, director of the Institute, and Tihomir Anđelić, head of the Department for General Standardization participated as representatives of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the first day, the 16th joint assemblies of CEN and CENELEC was held, where, among other things, the strategic priorities and key achievements of CEN and CENELEC were discussed, as well as the report for 2023 which was presented by Mrs. Elena Santiago Cid, director general of CEN and CENELEC. Financial reports of both organizations for 2023, as well as the basic principles and framework for the draft budgets of CEN and CENELEC for 2025 were presented. Two panel debates were also held: one regarding the contribution of CEN and CENELEC to the European Commission's High Level Forum on European Standardization(HLF), and the other on policy and technical priorities for CEN and CENELEC, in which the policy and technical vice presidents of CEN and CENELEC participated.
On the second day of this event, the 60th General Assembly of CEN and the 66th General Assembly of CENELEC were held. At the CEN General Assembly, a new CEN Board Members for 2025-2026 were elected, while at the CENELEC General Assembly, a new CENELEC vice-president technical for 2025-2026 was elected, as well as new members of CENELEC Administrative Board for the specified period.
Looking at the current and future development plans of Europe and its international relations, European standards are an important part of the solution of a large, inclusive and consensus-based standardization system that is unique in the world.
During the sessions, experiences were exchanged with representatives of national standardization bodies of other European countries with the aim of improving the standardization process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
