IEC General Meeting 2024

The General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was held in Edinburgh, Scotland from October 21 to 25, 2024. This year’s host of the General Assembly was the British Standards Institution (BSI). This prestigious event gathered over 1,500 global experts in the field of electrotechnology, including delegates and national officials, to discuss best practices and future planning under the theme „Towards an all electric and connected society“.

This year’s conference focused on how best to facilitate the transition to a digital and all-electric society where various sectors like energy, industrial production, healthcare, and mobility would be electrified and digitalized to create more more economically vibrant living conditions for everyone.

During the conference, sessions of the IEC governing bodies were held (the General Assembly, Standardization Management Board, Conformity Assessment Board, Market Strategy Board), as well as a meeting of the secretaries of all national committees (the IEC Forum), where national strategies for combating climate change were discussed.

The conference also included a series of exhibition days open to the public, along with an interactive exhibition space, providing multiple opportunities for engagement and networking.

On behalf of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aleksandar Todorović, the director of the Institute, and Zvjezdan Šehovac, head of the Department for electrotechnical standardization, participated in the General Meeting.
