1 – Prihvatni ugao je funkcija položaja na ulaznoj površini jezgre kada je indeks prelamanja funkcija radijusa jezgre. U tom slučaju je:

gdje je n (r) indeks prelamanja, a n2 minimalni indeks prelamanja omotača.
2 – Snaga se može povezati u propusnom modu kada je ugao veći od prihvatnog ugla. |
