SAHAF – International Halal Forum

Second International Halal Forum ─ SAHAF, organized by the Agency for Halal Quality Certification and Sarajevo Fair, was held on May 16th at the premises of cultural and sports center Skenderija within the first specialized fair of halal industry in Southeast Europe that was held from 15-17 May 2013. SAHAF forum is the central international scientific conference of eminent representatives from the field of Halal as well as representatives of economic, governmental and non-governmental institutions and organizations.

 

During the Forum four sessions were held: Halal - implementation and promotion, Halal economy, Halal consumers and panel discussion. It is important to note that the director of the Agency for Halal Quality Certification, Mr. Amir Sakić emphasized a major contribution of the Institute for standardization in the development of original Halal standard BAS 1049: 2010, Halal food - Requirements and measures, which has a wide application in the Halal industry.

 

The primary objective of this business event is promoting Halal products and services to consumers in the region, and creating business opportunities for regional halal industry in the traditional halal markets around the world.

 

The Forum was attended by producers from BiH and the region, but also by representatives of Turkey, Malaysia and Middle East countries.

 

BiH currently has 50 Halal certified companies while their number in the region exceeds 150.

 

The Institute for Standardization of BiH was represented by Ms. Biljana Baljaj, associate at the Institute.
