Standard BAS EN ISO 9606-1:2015 adopted by translation method

Standard BAS EN ISO 9606-1:2015, Qualification testing of welders – Fusion welding – Part 1: Steels, second edition, is a translated version of European standard EN ISO 9606-1:2013.

Second edition of this BAS standard has been prepared bilingually in Bosnian and English.

The original text of the standard has been prepared by European Technical Committee CEN/TC 121, Welding, whose secretariat is held by DIN.

This standard defines the requirements for qualification testing of welders for fusion welding of steels.

Standard BAS EN ISO 9606-1:2015 specifies the requirements for qualification testing of welders and enables such qualifications to be uniformly accepted independently of the type of product, location and examiner or examining body. When qualifying welders, the emphasis is placed on the welder’s ability manually to manipulate the electrode, welding torch or welding blowpipe, thereby producing a weld of acceptable quality. The welding processes referred to in BAS EN ISO 9606-1:2015 include those fusion-welding processes which are designated as manual or partly mechanized welding. It does not cover fully mechanized and automated welding processes.

BAS EN ISO 9606-1:2015 was prepared by Technical Committee of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina BAS/TC 2, Welding and related processes. This standard will be published at BAS Bulletin 1-2/2015.
