Working Meeting of the Delegations of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Promotion of Regional Cooperation in the Field of Standardization

During the Balkan Standardization Conference that was hosted by the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BAS), and held from 10 to 12 June 2013 in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, a series of bilateral meetings  between the participants was arranged in order to promote regional cooperation in the field of standardization.

The first meeting was held between the representatives of the BAS Institute and representatives of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia (ISS). During this two-day working visit, on 12th and 13th December 2013, in the premises of the ISS in Belgrade, discussions related to the ISS experience in translating European standards in the construction field, the so-called EUROCODES, were held. Special attention was paid to the experiences regarding the development of national annexes to those standards and development of the related snow, rain, wind, temperature and seismic maps.

Also, discussions related to the European standards organizations CEN and CENELEC guides, defining a final version of the standard in the language that is used in several countries were held. A draft agreement between the ISS and BAS regarding this subject was developed. Synchronized translation of European standards and joint cooperation in the preparation of terminology glossaries were also discussed.

Experiences regarding the conformity assessment activities within the national standards bodies were exchanged as well as the ISS experience regarding the organization of training and seminars in the field of standardization and conformity assessment.
