New edition of BAS EN 16942+A1:2022 adopted by translation method

The Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina has published a new edition of the BAS EN 16942+A1:2022, Fuels - Identification of vehicle compatibility - Graphic expression for consumer information, by the translation method.

BAS EN 16942+A1:2022 lays down harmonized identifiers for marketed liquid and gaseous fuels. The requirements in this standard are set to complement information needs of users regarding the fuel- and vehicle-compatibility that are placed on the market. The identifier is intended to be visualized at dispenser and refuelling points, on vehicles, in motor vehicle dealerships and in consumer manuals, as described in this document.

Marketed fuels include, for example, fuels, petroleum- derived fuels, synthetic fuels, biofuels, natural gas, liquid petroleum gas, hydrogen and biogas, and blends of the aforementioned delivered to non-stationary applications.

The graphical expression should be in line with the following requirements:

a)    to provide relevant, consistent and clear information as regards to those motor vehicles which can be regularly fuelled with compatible fuels placed on the market,

b)    to be simple and easy to understand;

c)    to be able to be placed in a clearly visible manner:

1)    on corresponding fuel pumps and their "nozzles" at refuelling points,

2)    on or in the immediate proximity of fuel tanks' filler caps for vehicles, recommended and compatible with that fuel and in motor vehicle manuals.

BAS EN 16942+A1:2022 also contains a National Annex that defines national requirements for identifiers for liquid and gaseous fuels sold in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
