World Environment Day – 5 June 2024

Today - June 5th, 2024, is World Environment Day, which has been celebrated annually since 1973 by millions of people across the globe.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority. Led by UNEP, this year's World Environment Day focuses on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience. This year's  host is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The United Nations has declared 2021 - 2030 the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, with land restoration being its key pillar. All these activities contribute to fulfilling United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
