One of the key objectives of standardization is to povide global confidence so, thanks to the standards, manufacturers could reach out to global market. International standards are prepared and adopted in an environment of openness and transparency thereby creating confidence and giving everyone opportunity to contribute to the standardization process.

International standards for products and services are useful for producers and consumers as well as service providers, as the basis for quality, ecology, safety, reliability, interoperability, efficiency and effectiveness. "International standards - creating confidence globally” is this year's message of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on the occasion of World Standards Day.
