Third edition of BAS EN 581-1: 2018, Outdoor furniture - Seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use - Part 1: General safety requirements and third edition of BAS EN 527-2: 2018, Office furniture - Work tables and desks - Part 2: Mechanical safety requirements, were adopted by translation method into the system of BiH standardization.

The original texts of European standards were prepared by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 207, “Furniture”, whose secretariat is under the authority of the Italian National standardization body (UNI).

BAS EN 581-1: 2018 specifies general safety requirements for outdoor seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract for use by adults, without regard to materials, design/construction or manufacturing processes. The standard does not apply to seating for spectator facilities and does not include requirements for the durability of upholstery materials, castors, reclining and tilting mechanisms and seat height adjustment mechanisms.

Mechanical safety requirements are covered by EN 581-2 for seating and EN 581-3 for tables.

Annex A (informative) is a schematic representation of requirements and conditions concerning shear and squeeze points, while Annex B (informative) is a rationale concerning fingers injury.

BAS EN 527-2: 2018 specifies safety, strength and durability requirements for work tables and desks for office tasks to be undertaken in a seated, a sit-stand or  standing position.

It does not apply to other tables in the office area, which are covered by EN 15372.
Annex A (informative) contains a test for the deflection of table tops, while Annex B (informative) contains an example of calculation of the stiffness of the structure.

BiH standards BAS EN 581-1: 2018 and BAS EN 527-2: 2018 has been prepared by the Technical Committee BAS/TC 42, Wood and wood products, of the Institute for Standardization of BiH.
