Institute for Standardization of Serbia in cooperation with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) organized a regional workshop on “Emergency Management”. The workshop was held in Belgrade, from 1 to 3 October, and was attended by the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Miljan Savic on behalf of the Institute for Standardization and Mr. Dejan Jovic, representative of Sector Security.

Prof. Ernst -Peter Doebbeling from Germany was a lecturer at the workshop. The main topic of regional workshop was the international standard ISO 22320:2011 - Societal Security - Emergency Management - Requirements for incident response. Standard specifies minimum requirements for an effective incident response and provides the basis for the management, operational information, coordination and cooperation within the organization and between the organization and other parties involved. Standard has a great application in any organization (private, public, governmental and NGO) that is involved in the preparation or responsible for responding to incidents at the international, national, regional or local level. Standard specifies requirements for operational information for an incident respond that defines the processes, work systems, gathering of relevant information and management. It supports the process of command and control, coordination and cooperation within the organization and with other organizations as well as.

The work of an international technical committee ISO/TC 223 - Societal Security, that developed this international standard was presented. Standards in the field of this technical committee were not adopted into the national system of BiH standardization. The Institute for standardization of BiH has initiated activities for the establishment of new technical committee aiming to adopt standards from this area in order to make standards available to all interested parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the workshop, the legislation and the system of emergency management in Bosnia and Herzegovina was presented.
