Workshop “The regulation of standardization system, codification and quality control in the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina”

The workshop on “The regulation of standardization system, codification and quality control in the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina”  was held from 3 to 6 December 2012 in Fojnica, organized by a NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of BiH.  Representatives from NATO Headquarters, Ministry of Defense of BiH, Armed Forces of BiH and the Institute for Standardization of BiH attended the workshop.

 

On behalf of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sead Bekic, deputy director of the Institute and Miljan Savic, expert for standardization in the field of ISO/CEN were present at the workshop.


The aim of the workshop was to develop proposals of normative and legal as well as  professional documents in the area of standardization, codification and quality control. Three working groups were formed within the workshop:

 

  • Working group on standardization whose task was to propose the draft and a legal framework for the standardization process in the Ministry of Defense of BiH and Armed Forces of BiH. Implementation of NATO and BAS standards in the areas of great interest for the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces;
  • Working group on codification whose task was to determine the codification label for material resources in order to achieve their unambiguous   identification;
  • Working group on quality control, whose task was to propose a legal framework and means to control the quality of goods at the Ministry of Defense of BiH and Armed Forces of BiH.

 

The representatives of the Institute were active in working groups through discussion and suggestions about resolving specific issues. This workshop was an opportunity to exchange previous experiences  regarding  standardization and quality control process.


The conclusion of the workshop was that a significant step in the process of standardization and quality control was made. Proposal for the draft of the standardization and codification process was developed, as well as the proposal of the Regulation for quality control and proposal of the Manual for control of one part of the goods. It was also concluded that an agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Institute for standardization in the standardization area should be signed and include the representatives of the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces in the activities of the Institute`s  technical committees.
