Technical committees BAS/TC 61 and BAS/TC 62 Established
At the inaugural sessions held on 23 February 2016 at the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, technical committees BAS/TC 61, Eurocodes – Design of concrete and masonry structures and BAS/TC 62, Eurocodes – Design of steel, composite steel, timber and aluminium structures have been established.
After a brief discussion at the meeting, the members of the technical committee BAS/TC 61 determined the scope of work of the technical committee, which is:
“The standardization of design rules and calculation of concrete and masonry structures, taking into account the relationship between design rules and the assumptions to be made for building materials, construction and control of construction works.”
BAS/TC 61 will monitor the work of the European Technical Subcommittees CEN/TC 250 /SC 2 - Eurocode 2: Design of concrete structures and CEN/TC 250/SC 6, Eurocode 6: Design of masonry structures.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hrasnica, dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Sarajevo, was elected as the president of the technical committee and Nihada Kulenovic, BSc. from the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a technical secretary and coordinator.
The scope of work of the technical committee BAS/TC 62 is:
“The standardization of design rules and calculation of steel, composite steel, timber and aluminium structures, taking into account the relationship between design rules and assumptions for building materials, construction and control of construction works.”
BAS/TC 62 will monitor the work of the European Technical Subcommittees CEN/TC 250/SC 3, Eurocode 3: Design of steel structures, CEN/TC 250/SC 4, Eurocode 4: Design of composite steel and concrete structures, CEN/TC 250/SC 5, Eurocode 5: Design of timber structures i CEN/TC 250/SC 9, Eurocode 9: Design of aluminium structures.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Slađana Miljanović, from the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo, was elected as the president of the technical committee and Nihada Kulenovic, BSc. from the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a technical secretary and coordinator.
The Institute has recognized the importance of translation and adoption of the Eurocodes and the development of national annexes, and decided to establish those committees. Eurocodes will improve the quality of products and services and create new business opportunities in the construction sector. The European Commission has issued an mandate in 2010 that all Member States should fully implement the Eurocodes.
