16th Conference of BH K CIGRE
From 22-25 of October, 2023, the 16th Conference of the BiH National Committee of the International Council on Large Electric Systems - BH K CIGRE was held in Neum, with the participation of representatives of economic and scientific organizations from the region.
During the opening of the 16th BH K CIGRE conference, in the introductory address, the topics, problems and challenges facing the electric power system of Bosnia and Herzegovina were emphasized. These topics were addressed in scientific papers and discussed within roundtable discussions, presentations and panel discussions. The key topic that has emerged, which has been driven by climate changes, was the energy transition towards sustainable energy system based on renewable energy sources, while ensuring the stability of the system and market operations.
In order to meet the requirements of the energy transition, CIGRE's standard topics have been expanded to include new ones: hydrogen, energy storage, solar and wind farms, grids and flexibility, consumer and prosumer participation, electromobility, sustainability and climate, system integration, cyber security and digitization including artificial intelligence . Some study committees had to adapt to these new requirements, to uphold the CIGRE values: impartiality, accessibility, transparency, progress, cooperation, integrity and adaptability. CIGRE took over the task of continuing to address these key issues and providing assistance in facing new challenges.
During the 16th Conference, BiH CIGRE Committee proposed solutions to issues in the energy sector that would significantly improve the mitigation of climate change, enhancing the functioning of the electrical power system, its reliability and transition, whose ultimate goal is decarbonization and the production of clean, green energy. The positive effects of the BH K CIGRE activities in recent years were emphasized, as well as the achievement of the set goals, promoting global trends in the development of the energy sector and the interests of the industry and economy. Once again, it was concluded that CIGRE is a place for professional and scientific advancement and a platform for the discussion about the future of the energy system based on clean and green energy.
On behalf of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina the participants of the 16th BH K CIGRE Conference were expert associates for electrotechnical standardization Ivona Pikić-Hart, and Miljan Vasković.
