New edition of ISOfocus devoted to benefits of aging
International Organization for Standardization ISO has published a new edition of the ISOfocus magazine for March/April. Among the experts interviewed in the new issue of ISOfocus are faculty, companies, small business leaders and standards professionals from around the world in fields ranging from robots, to community infrastructures to aesthetic surgery services.
Experts say that due to the fact that the proportion of older consumers is increasing, the entire economy will change in a way that we never could have imagined. One of these impacts is the economic potential of goods and services for people aged 65 and over, which occurs due to an increase in the percentage of older consumers.
The latest issue of ISOfocus showcases some of the opportunities that exists for businesses by highlighting the sectors most likely to benefit. It gives examples of how some companies are already leveraging this growing market, taking advantage of the new demographic trends to develop new products and services for older consumers. This new issue also considers opportunities offered by standards to further evolve the “silver economy”, not only as a way of helping economic recovery, generating employment or raising prosperity, but also as a way to create a just and equal society for all ages.
It is pointed out that the “silver economy” should be seen as an opportunity to develop new standards that will improve the quality of life, facilitate economic growth and enhance innovation and competitiveness.
What will the world look like in 2050? Dramatically different, to be sure. No country is immune from population aging and if companies are destined to survive in a long term, they will need to embrace the demographic curve as an opportunity to reach an untapped market.
