International Scientific Conference COMET 2012

From 28 to 30 November 2012 the international scientific conference Comet 2012 - Applied Technology in mechanical engineering was  held at Jahorina,  the first major scientific conference organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of East Sarajevo. Aim of the Conference was to present modernized and optimized production processes implementing advanced technologies which are the result of scientific research.

This was an opportunity to gather the experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region in the field of research and application of new technologies and the development of mechanical systems. 92 scientific papers were presented at the Conference from the following scientific areas:

  • Production technologies and advanced materials
  • The application of mechanics and mechatronics
  • Development and design of mechanic systems and components
  • Energy and thermo technique
  • Renewable energy and environmental protection
  • Manufacturing systems, organization and management
  • Monitoring and diagnostic of technical systems

Representatives of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina were Mr. Goran Tesanovic, assistant director of the Institute and Miljan Savic, expert for standardization in the field of ISO/CEN. During the working part of the Conference, a scientific paper “Establishment of energy efficiency systems in accordance with the requirements of EN ISO 50001” was presented by Miljan Savic,  author and assistant professor Biljana Markovic, co-author.

As part of the Conference a round table on “The importance of quality infrastructure in the process of European integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina” was organized, moderated by Dr. Zarko Petrovic, Director of the Institute for Accreditation of BiH. Goran Tešanović gave a presentation on “The role and importance of standards and standardization in technical legislation and infrastructure quality”  which was also an opportunity to present the work of the Institute and the role of standards and standardization in technical legislation and infrastructure quality.
