Benefits of the effective and efficient national quality infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Kick off meeting on „Benefits of the effective and efficient national quality infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ was held at Vlašić on June 25, 2015. This meeting launched a new project under the leadership of the National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB). The project will last from 2015 to 2017 and it has two components. The first aims at strengthening the capacities of the Institute for Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina and institutes for metrology of the entities. The second component relates to the development of the document "Quality Infrastructure Strategy in Bosnia and Herzegovina".

 

Representatives of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH), World Bank, National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB) participated at the meeting. Representatives of the economic organizations, conformity assessment bodies and quality infrastructure institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and guests from the quality infrastructure area of the Republic of Serbia also attended the meeting.

 

The Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Mr Aleksandar Cincar, director general of the Institute. Mr. Cincar briefed the attendees on the role and activities of the Institute. Participants were informed about legal and institutional framework of standardization in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the compliance status of standardization in BiH with the acquis communautaire. They were also informed about kind of support that is most needed for standardization in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the challenges the standardization is faced with.
