2nd Meeting of the Evolution Groups CEN/TC 250/SC 7/ WG 1 in Prague

The second meeting of the evolution groups CEN/TC 250/SC 7/WG 1 was held In Prague from 6-7 November 2014. CEN/TC 250/SC 7 has decided to establish a number of “Evolution Groups (EGs)” to look at the technical issues in future revision of Eurocode 7. 14 evolution groups were established thus far, covering the smallest details in Eurocode 7.

 

The topic of the second workshop is generally related to the future of Eurocode 7, since the review and development of the second generation of Eurocodes is in progress.

 

The meeting was attended by experts, who are members of different evolution groups from many EU member countries.

 

Bosnia and Herzegovina in its role as an observer was represented by Borislav Kraljević, deputy director of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Nihada Kulenović, associate of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

The working meeting, organized in four simultaneous sessions, was focused on the work plan of CEN TC 250/SC7 for developing a new generation of Eurocode 7, scheduled for publication in 2020.

 

The work plan comprises six tasks that will result in a new 3-part standard with the emphasis on ease- of-use and more practical design rules:

 

1. Harmonisation and ease-of- use,

reorganized framework for Eurocode 7

2. General rules

Revised Eurocode 7 Part 1 (concentrating on principles and compatible with the other structural Eurocodes)

3. Ground investigation,

Revised Eurocode 7 Part 2 (focused on more practical information for a wider range of tests)

4. Foundations, slope and ground improvement,

will be contained in the first half of the new Eurocode 7 Part 3 (devoted to practical rules for design of these structures)

5. Retaining structures, anchors and reinforced ground,

will be contained in the second half of the new Eurocode 7 Part 3

6. Rock mechanics and dynamic design,

new/ revised paragraphs throughout the Eurocode 7 (enhancing existing text on these subjects throughout all parts of Eurocode 7)
