Second Balkan Workshop on Eurocodes

The second workshop on “Capacity building for elaboration of NDPs and NA of the Eurocodes in the Balkan region” was held in Skopje, from 4-5 November 2014. The workshop was organized by the JRC Enlargement and Integration Action - together with the European Commission and was attended by representatives of the Western Balkans countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia and Turkey.

 

Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Borislav Kraljević, Deputy Director of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Miladin Popović from the Institute for testing materials and structures Banja Luka, Bojan Bjelajac from the AD Projekt Banja Luka and Nihada Kulenović, specialist of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

The workshop was focused on the progress and specific needs in the adoption and implementation of the Eurocodes and related EN standards in the Balkan region: workshop was divided into three parts:

  • Lectures of the experts from JRC and European Commission DG (Directorate General) , CEN/CENELEC and the EU Member States;
  • National presentation of non-EU countries on the adoption of the Eurocodes (report and the status of adoption); specific problems and needs, training and guidance;
  • Round table concerning the adoption of the Eurocodes in the Balkan region - Conclusions and Recommendations.

On behalf of the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nihada Kulenović held a presentation “National Report - The current situation regarding the adoption of the Eurocodes in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, and took the opportunity to briefly inform attendees on the mode of operation and structure of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
