The Day of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bearing in mind that the end of the year is the time to review activities and achievements, and gather impressions about our activities, on December 28, we are celebrating and marking the Day of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year, the whole world faced great challenges caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus and the dilemma of how to save health and life, and at the same time continue to operate successfully. We have proven that we can function even in restrictive conditions and we have managed to overcome many obstacles that we have faced.

In short: we have adopted 2639 standards and other standardization documents. By using videoconferencing tools, we held 82 online sessions of Technical Committees, and two sessions of the BiH Standardization Council. The Ex-Commission has processed 131 certificates and issued 34 expert opinions. We improved and modernized our standard sales system, redesigned the Institute's website. We have implemented two international projects, responded to stakeholder enquiries and issued certificates of identity of standards. We continued with promotional and educational activities related to standards and standardization, and organized and participated in several online webinars and conferences. We have also prepared a new price list of standards and our services, which, taking into account the situation on the market, has lowered the prices of standards. In addition, we have provided a special option for all students of technical faculties that gives them free online access to the standards they need to meet curricula.

This year, members of the regional ad-hoc working group for the preparation and development of the national normative aspect of NNA to BAS EN 50341-1: 2014, Overhead electrical lines exceeding AC 1 kV - Part 1: General requirements - Common specifications, were awarded a Commendation for valuable contribution in the development, implementation and promotion of standards and the improvement of standardization in BiH: Ilija Derikučka, Slaviša Čekić, Edhem Hadžić, Nedžad Hasanspahić, Benjamin Mehić, Dževad Imširović, Marijo Krešić, Zdenko Marić, Mijo Terkeš.

Plaques for significant contribution in the development, implementation and promotion of standards and the improvement of standardization in BiH were awarded to the Eda Enterprise Development Agency and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency - Sida.

Finally, thank you for the support and trust that have been of particular importance in the year behind. We believe that the coming year will bring new possibilities and better opportunities for all of us.
