A technical committee BAS/TC 59, Societal security and protection, has been successfully established at the constituent meeting, which was held on 18 December 2014 at the premises of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the constituent meeting the members of the technical committee BAS/TC 59 adopted and proposed the following:

• Name of the technical committee BAS/TC 59, Societal security and protection;  
• Main activities of the technical committee BAS/TC 59: Standardization in the field of societal security, protection of society from and response to incidents, natural and other disasters, disasters caused by intentional and unintentional human acts; preparation of standards in the field of terminology, business continuity management in process of planning, establishment, implementation, operation, monitoring, review and maintenance of this system as well as emergency management in all phases including aspects of prevention, response, mitigation and recovery with the help of technical, human, organizational and operational resources;  
• European and international mirror committees:
  • CEN/TC 391, Societal and Citizen Security
  • ISO/TC 223, Societal security
• The members of the technical committee elected Dr. Radoje Đorda as chairman of BAS/TC 59
• Miljan Savić, advisor at the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina was proposed as technical secretary and coordinator.
