81st General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
The 81st General Assembly of the IEC was held from 9 to 13 October 2017 in Vladivostok, Russia. The host of this year's General Assembly was the IEC National Committee for Russia - Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology of the Russian Federation (ROSSTANDARDT).
At the General Assembly, Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Mr. Aleksandar Cincar, Director of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ms. Mirjana Šućur, Secretary General of BiH Electrical Engineering Committee (BAKE) and Head of Department for Standardization in the field of IEC/ITU/CENELEC/ETSI at the Institute.
The Delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina attended and participated in the work of the IEC Standardization Management Board - SMB, Conformity Assessment Board - CAB, Workshop for Industrializing Countries, and the NC Secretaries and Presidents Forum. Reports on the work of the IEC and its working bodies were presented at the Assembly, new members were elected, and the implementation of the plan, cooperation with other international and regional organizations, and other current topics were discussed.
In the organizational sense, this year's General Assembly surpassed the previous thanks to the host and organizer, ROSSTANDART, who is directed by Aleksey Abramov. On the margins of the Assembly, the talks were held on the future cooperation between the representatives of the Russian and BiH institutions, namely Director Abramov and Director Cincar. In addition to cooperation in the standardization field, Mr. Abramov's next visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina was also discussed, bearing in mind that Mr. Abramov is a representative of the Russian delegation in the Intergovernmental Russian – Bosnian & Herzegovinian Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.
