48th ETSI/NSO meeting and 69th ETSI General Assembly

48th  meeting of the National Standards Organization (NSO) and  69th  General Assembly of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) was held from 3 to 6 April 2017 in Sophia-Antipolis (France). Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Mirjana Šućur, Head of Standardization Department for in the field of IEC/ITU/CENELEC/ETSI and Dragan Ćućilo, expert associate for standardization in the field of IEC/ITU/CENELEC/ETSI in the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

 

At the 48th  meeting of the National Standards Organization (NSO) information have been exchanged on national implementation of harmonized standards published by ETSI. During 2016, ETSI has published 100 new and revised harmonized standards under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU, while by the end of 2017 they plan to adopt 186 harmonized standards for the said Directive.  

 

 

At the 69th  ETSI General Assembly, the Report on Budget Execution, 2016 Annual Report, 2017 Budget and Business Plan of ETSI Secretariat have been discussed and adopted. The results of ETSI activities in 2016 and plans for 2017 were presented by Mr. Luis Jorge Romero, Director General of ETSI.
The structure of 847 ETSI members from 68 countries from 5 continents was presented (Figure 1) , among other things, in the reports.

 

 Within the ETSI General Assembly, a Summit on 5G network infrastructure was held on 6th  of April 2017. They also talked about the new data for energy efficiency in the 5G system. The long-term strategy for 2016- 2021 was presented, which includes two key technical topics, IoT (Internet of Things) and accompanying 5G communications. Within the Committee  for 5G network infrastructure, the needs of smart cities, eHealth and intelligent transportation systems are being addressed.
