44th ETSI/NSO meeting and 65th ETSI General Assembly

From 16 to 18 March 2015, a 44th meeting of National Standards Organizations (NSOs) and 65th General Assembly of ETSI (European Telecommunication Standards Institute) was held in Sophia-Antipolis (France).

 

Information between the representatives of NSOs and ETSI were exchanged at the meeting while representatives of Franch National Standardization Body - AFNOR presented the role of syber security in the standardization process.

 

The European Commission has published new editions of nine New Approach Directives regarding CE marking in order to align it with New Legislative Framework (Resolution EC 764/2008, Resolution EC 756/2008, Resolution 768/2008/EC).

 

One of them is R&TTED (Radio & Telecommunication Terminal Equipment Directive) with a new designation 2014/53/EC (previous was 1995/5/EC) that shall be applied from 13 July 2016.

 

Due to the modified requirements of Directve 2014/53/EU, ETSI will have to develop new harmonized standards for „radio products“ which were not addressed under R&TTED as well as to revise harmonized standards set out in Directive 1999/5/ EC.

 

„Radio equipment“ means an electrical or electronic product, which intentionally emits and/or receives radio waves for the purpose of radio communication and/or radiodetermination, or an electrical or electronic product which must be completed with an accessory, such as antenna, so as to intentionally emit and/or receive radio waves for the purpose of radio communication and/or radiodetermination.

 

At the 65th ETSI General Assembly, a Director-General Progress Report was disscussed and adopted as well as a Budget Implementation Report, 2014 Annual Report, 2015 Budget and ETSI Secretariat Business Plan. Auditors Report was also presented, newly elected members received certificates while special acknowledgements were given to the retired members.

 

Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Ms. Mirjana Šućur, Head of Department for Standardization in the field of IEC/ITU/CENELEC/ETSI at the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
