39th ISO General Assembly and 50th Meeting of DEVCO

39th  ISO General Assembly and the 50th  meeting of DEVCO was held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, from 10 to 14 September 2016. Host of this year's event was the Standardization Administration of China - SAC.

 

Over 500 delegates from 163 member countries of ISO participated at the work of the Assembly. Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Borislav Kraljević, deputy director of the Institute for Standardization and Goran Tešanović, assistant director for conformity assessment at the Institute. 

 

During this year's session of the Committee for Developing Countries - DEVCO several workshops was held: Enhancing participation in international standardization, financial sustainability of NSBs, developing a national standardization strategy. During the General Assembly, apart from the open session, the following workshops were also held: Engaging public authorities, services, upcoming high-impact ISO standards and ISO governance review.

 

 

John Walter from Canada was elected as the new president of ISO for the 2017-2019 term.

 

During the Assembly, Standardization Administration of China signed a series of bilateral cooperation agreements with the national standardization bodies including the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The agreement was signed by Mr. Borislav Kraljević, on behalf of the Institute, and Dr. Tian Shihong, on behalf of SAC.
