14th Annual Meeting of CEN and CENELEC

14th Annual meeting of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) was held in the Slovenian alpine resort Bled from 20 to 22 June 2018. The host of the meeting was Slovenian Institute for Standardization (SIST). The Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Aleksandar Cincar, Director and Borislav Kraljević, Deputy Director.

The new format of General Assemblies of CEN and CENELEC, was set up last year in Edinburgh, and this year even more interactive approach was applied. After statutory separate Assemblies of CEN and CENELEC the common session of mentioned Assemblies was held at which delegates had the opportunity to hear reports and participate in the discussion on key strategic, policy and technical matters related to European standardization.

Thematic meeting ‘Innovation and Standardization’ was held after General Assemblies. Faster development of innovation and significant impact on business models and the distinction between industry and services is the reason why standardization community has to explore how it can be more present in areas of technological innovations, more attractive for scientific, research and innovation communities and more agile and responsive to the needs of those communities.

The next annual meeting of CEN and CENELEC will be held in 2019 in Romania.
