Energy Summit Held in Trebinje

The Director of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aleksandar Todorović, attended the sixth Energy Summit held from March 19 to 21, 2025, in Trebinje. The three-day event, held under the slogan „Building the Energy Future of the Western Balkans Together“, brought together the most eminent energy experts from the region.

Specifically, the three-day Summit gathered around 700 participants from 16 countries, as well as representatives of numerous companies.

This year's Summit covered several topics, with one of the more significant ones being energy transition and the impact of climate change on the energy sector and electricity production. The most viable solution identified was the use of a mix of renewable energy sources, which would eventually completely replace energy derived from fossil fuels. An integrated approach is essential, involving the incorporation of new energy solutions across all sectors.

During the Sixth Summit, seven panel discussions and the opening plenary session addressed topics related to climate change and its impact on the stability of the power sector. It was concluded that climate change is most intense in urban centers and that attention must be paid to the presence of green areas and the planting of park trees, which play a crucial role in adapting to climate change.

Additionally, it was concluded that Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to soon adopt a National Energy and Climate Plan, which will enable further development of the energy sector.
