The Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, through its Technical Committee BAS/TC 57, Household and similar electrical appliances, has adopted the second edition of BAS EN IEC 60335-2-9:2025, Household and similar electrical appliances – Safety – Part 2-9: Particular requirements for grills, toasters and similar portable cooking appliances, as well as its amendment BAS EN IEC 60335-2-9/A11:2025.
This international standard deals with the safety of electric portable appliances that have a cooking function such as baking, roasting, grilling, frying, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V.
Appliances intended for normal household and similar use and that may also be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms are within the scope of this standard. If the appliance is intended to be used professionally to process food for commercial consumption, the appliance is not considered to be for household and similar use only.
As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, in general, it does not take into account:
- persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, preventsa them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction; or
- children playing with the appliance.
The original texts of the standard were prepared by Technical Committee TC 61, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances, whose secretariat is held by national standards body of the United States (ANSI).
