New edition of BAS EN 228+A1:2018 adopted by translation method
The new, eighth edition of the BiH standard BAS EN 228 + A1: 2018, Automotive fuels - Unleaded petrol - Requirements and test methods, was published. The standard is adopted by translation method of the European standard EN 228: 2012 + A1: 2017, Automotive fuels - Unleaded petrol - Requirements and test methods.
European Standard EN 228: 2012 + A1: 2017 has been prepared by the European Technical Committee CEN/TC 19, Gaseous and Liquid Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products of Petroleum, Synthetic and Biological Origin, whose secretariat is held by NEN (Netherlands Standardization Institute). Standard was adopted by BiH Technical Committee BAS/TC 11, Petroleum and Petroleum Products.
BiH standard BAS EN 228 + A1: 2018 specifies requirements and test methods for marketed and delivered unleaded petrol. It is applicable to unleaded petrol for use in petrol engine vehicles. A new system for marking unleaded petrol at dispensing pumps was introduced in accordance with the requirements of BAS EN 16942.
The standard specifies two types of unleaded petrol:
- unleaded petrol with a maximum oxygen content of up to 3.7% (m/m) and a maximum ethanol content of 10.0% (V/V);
- Unleaded petrol intended for older vehicles that are not warranted to use unleaded petrol with high biofuel content, with a maximum oxygen content of up to 2.7% (m/m) and a maximum ethanol content of 5.0% (V/V).
BiH standard BAS EN 228 + A1: 2018 also contains National Annexess which define the national requirements for:
- taking samples;
- unleaded petrol with a higher octane number
- seasonal volatility.
