The Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted, by the translation method, the new BAS EN ISO 56001:2025 – Innovation management system – Requirements, which specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an innovation management system within organizations.

The standard provides a comprehensive and systematic framework that enables organizations to enhance innovation performance, increase their ability to adapt to change, and create greater value for users, customers and other interested parties. Particular emphasis is on managing uncertainty, risks and opportunities associated with innovation initiatives.

BAS EN ISO 56001:2025 covers all key elements of an innovation management system, including:

·         strategic direction and innovation intent;

·         leadership and innovation policy;

·         planning of innovation goals and innovation portfolio;

·         provision of the necessary resources, competences and organizational culture;

·         implementation of innovation initiatives through flexible and adaptable processes;

·         evaluation of innovation performance and continual improvement of the system.

The implementation of this standard can significantly contribute to:

·         increased realization of value from new or improved products, services, processes and business models;

·         strengthening the organization’s innovation capabilities through a systematic approach to innovation;

·         improved management of risks and uncertainties related to innovation;

·         enhanced cooperation within the organization and within innovation ecosystems;

·         strengthened reputation and trust among partners, investors and other interested parties;

·         increased resilience and long-term sustainability of organizations.

The standard is applicable to organizations of all types and sizes, including private and public sector organizations, non-profit organizations, large enterprises, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. It can be applied at the strategic, tactical and operational levels, as well as at the level of individual projects or the entire organization.

BAS EN ISO 56001:2025 is aligned with the harmonized structure for management system standards (Annex SL) and can be integrated with other management system standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO/IEC 27001 and others, enabling organizations to adopt a consistent and integrated management approach.

The standard was prepared within the scope of the Technical Committee BAS/TC 3 – Quality management and quality assurance.
