Ceremonial celebration and a retrospective of achievements in 2025

The Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ISBIH) marks its Day on 28 December 2025. On this occasion, on 11 December 2025, the Director of the Institute, Mr. Aleksandar Todorović, organized a reception for the chairpersons of BAS Technical Committees, retired chairpersons and members of BAS/TCs, as well as other distinguished guests. On this occasion, letters of appreciation and plaques were awarded as a token of recognition for their contribution to the work of the Institute.

A year marked by achievements

Summarizing the results achieved in 2025, the joint work of the chairpersons of BAS Technical Committees, their members and technical secretaries on the preparation, adoption and publication of BAS standards and standardization documents is particularly highlighted.

Key results (as of 22 December 2025):

·         Standardization: 1,916 BAS standards and standardization documents were adopted.

·         Ex-Commission: 33 expert opinions, 67 individual certificates and 58 type certificates were issued.

Quality and information security: The second surveillance audit of the integrated quality management system and information security management system was carried out, in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 27001:2022. It was concluded that the Institute meets the requirements of these standards, and a decision was made to maintain the certification.

Institutional development and expert bodies

The year was marked by important meetings and new development steps:

·         The Council for Standardization: On 30 September 2025, the first session of the newly appointed Council for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held.

·         Anniversaries: The 50th jubilee meeting of Technical Committee BAS/TC 15, Electromagnetic compatibility, was held.

·         New committees: The constitutive session of Technical Committee BAS/TC 67, Postal and logistics services, was held.

International and regional cooperation

In accordance with the obligations arising from agreements, the management of the Institute actively participated in key international events:

·         Participation in the 17th joint General Assembly of CEN and CENELEC held on 26 June 2025, and in the 61st CEN General Assembly and the 67th CENELEC General Assembly, held on 27 June 2025 in Luxembourg.

·         Attendance at the 89th IEC General Meeting held on 19 September 2025 in New Delhi and the 47th ISO General Assembly, held on 10 October 2025 in Kigali (Rwanda).

·         Participation in the 10th Balkan Standardization Conference, held from 22 to 23 September 2025 in Timișoara, on the topic “Research and education trigger NextGen standardization”.

Regional cooperation was strengthened through working visits of the Director of the Institute, Mr. Aleksandar Todorović, to the Institute for Standardization of North Macedonia, the Institute for Standardization of Montenegro and the Croatian Standards Institute. Successful cooperation with the Republic Institute for Standardization of the Republic of Srpska was also continued.

In Sochi, on 24 September 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology of the Russian Federation and the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, the Director and Deputy Director of the Institute attended the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Croatian Standards Institute (HZN) in Zagreb, on 8 December 2025.

Contribution to the professional community

The representatives of the Institute made a significant contribution to the professional community by presenting expert papers:

·         At the INFOTEH-JAHORINA 2025 symposium, held from 19 to 21 March 2025, Mr. Goran Mrkaja, Senior Adviser for the Ex-Commission, and Mr. Miljan Vasković, Expert Associate in the Department of Electrotechnical Standardization, presented a professional paper entitled: “Standards for procedures of measurement and calculation of electromagnetic fields that may affect people”.

·         At the 11th International Ex-Conference, held from 25 to 26 September 2025 at Fruška Gora, Mr. Jusuf Delić, MSc, Chair of the Ex-Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, presented a paper entitled: “Contribution to achieving the integrity of explosion protection of plants with the aim of increasing safety in areas endangered by explosive atmospheres in Bosnia and Herzegovina”. Co-authors of the paper were Mr. Goran Tešanović, Assistant Director for Conformity Assessment, and Mr. Goran Mrkaja, Senior Adviser for the Ex-Commission.

Transparency and information

During 2025, three issues of the Institute’s Bulletin (ISBIH Bulletin 1/25, 2/25, 3/25) were published, as well as the promotional Annual Report 2024 in Serbian and English. News about events at the Institute and participation in various activities were regularly published on the ISBIH website. The public was also informed about invitations to webinars on the second generation of Eurocodes and IEC webinars. The translations of professional articles and news from IEC, ISO and CEN/CENELEC were published.
