Day of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina
December 28, 2023 is the day of the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On this occasion, on December 7, 2023, a reception was organized for presidents of BAS Technical Committees, retired presidents and the members of BAS/TCs, as well as for other distinguished guests. The new ISBiH director, Aleksandar Todorović, greeted the guests and presented plaques and certificates of appreciation to prominent individuals.
On ISBiH's Day, we are summarizing the results achieved in 2023.
Presidents of BAS Technical Committees, members, technical secretaries, together with the leadership of ISBiH, are collaborating on the preparation, adoption and publication of BAS standards and standardization documents.
As of December 22 of this year, 2085 BAS standards and standardization documents were adopted. Also, three original standards and one original standardization document were developed and published, namely:
- second edition of the original BAS standard BAS 1056:2023, Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for industry and households - Requirements and test methods;
- second edition of the original BAS standard BAS 1057:2023, Concrete – Specification, performance, production and conformity ‒ Guidelines for the implementation of BAS EN 206;
- third edition of the original BAS standard BAS 1049:2023, Halal food - Requirements and measures;
- standardization document BAS EN 1997-1/NA:2023.
Stakeholders had the opportunity to attend webinars on the 2nd generation of the Eurocodes.
In 2023, the Ex-commission issued 41 expert opinions, 64 individual certificates and 85 type certificates.
Two (50th jubilee) sessions of Technical Committees were held, namely: BAS/TC 10, Electrical energy measurement equipment and load control and BAS/TC 11, Petroleum and petroleum products.
In accordance with the obligations arising from the agreements, representatives of ISBiH participated in the 15th session of the CEN/CENELEC General Assembly, held on June 21, 2023 in Belgrade. They also attended the 45th ISO General Assembly, held online on 21 September 2023 in Brisbane, Australia, as well as the 87th IEC General Meeting, held online on 26 October 2023 in Cairo, Egypt. 81st ETSI General Assembly was held on March 29, 2023 in Sophia Antipolis, France.
Representatives of the Institute also participated in congresses, consultations, regional meetings, fairs, of which we single out the Regional meeting of representatives of the quality infrastructure institutions (QI) of CEFTA Countries, which was held in Albania from June 6 to 7, 2023, as part of the Project “EU4Business: Fostering the common regional market through quality infrastructure and e-commerce”, which was attended by Goran Tešanović, assistant director for conformity assessment.
An ISO regional workshop for the development of the Gender Action Plan was also held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from June 7 to June 9, 2023. The action plan for the development of gender-responsive standards is available on the website of the Institute for Standardization of BiH and published on the website of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Agreement on Cooperation between ISBiH and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of East Sarajevo was signed on October 26, 2023. At the beginning of December, the leadership of ISBiH paid a short working visit to the Institute for Standardization of Serbia (ISS) in order to improve cooperation. Also, on December 11, 2023, Annex 1 of the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of standardization was signed between ISBiH and the Republic Institute for Standardization and Metrology of the Republic of Srpska.
We also published three issues of the Institute's Bulletin in electronic form, promotional brochures, the ISBiH Annual Report for 2022, as well as three editions of the “ISBIH Newsletter”.
