BiH and Russia signed a new MoU in the field of standardization

On the sidelines of the meeting between the delegations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Russia in Sochi on 24 September 2025, a new Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Russian Federation and the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Memorandum envisages strengthening cooperation in the field of standardization, the exchange of experts, joint training programmes, and the alignment of national standards with international norms. It also opens the possibility for mutual recognition of standards, which is expected to facilitate trade between the two countries.

At the meeting, Anton Shalaev, Director of the Russian Federal Agency, and Aleksandar Todorović, Director of the Institute for Standardization of BiH, discussed specific directions of cooperation. The Russian side offered BiH access to the Standards Fund containing more than 41,000 documents, as well as specialized training at the Academy for Standardization, Metrology and Certification.

The representatives of BiH proposed joint work on the development of halal standards, while the Russian delegation emphasized the importance of cooperation within the international standardization organizations ISO and IEC.

The Memorandum enters into force upon signature, is valid for three years, and is automatically extended. It replaces the agreement from 2014.
