THERMOCHEMICAL TREATMENT which is applied to a ferrous product in order to produce surface enrichment in nitrogen.
If this treatment is carried out in a MEDlUM to which a certain quantity of oxygen has been added, it is called ‘OXYNITRIDING’.
NOTE 1 The MEDIUM in which the nitriding takes place should be specified, for example : gas, plasma, etc.
NOTE 2 In English, the terms glow discharge nitriding and ion nitriding were formerly used to designate plasma nitriding.

NAPOMENA 1 SREDSTVO u kojem se vrši nitriranje trebalo bi biti specificirano, naprimjer: gas, plazma, itd.
NAPOMENA 2 U engleskom jeziku termini “glow discharge nitriding” i “jon nitriding” ranije su korišteni da označe plazma nitriranja.
