Definicija (EN)The following principal temperatures can be distinguished for steels: Ae1: equilibrium temperature defining the lower limit of existence of austenite. Ae3: equilibrium temperature defming the upper limit of existence of ferrite. Aem: equilibrium temperature defming the upper limit of existence of cementite in a hypereutectoid steel. Ac1: temperature at which austenite begins to form during HEATING. AC3: temperature at which ferrite completes its transformation into austenite during HEATING. Acm: temperature at which the cementite in a hypereutectoid steel dissolves completely. Ar1: temperature at which austenite completes its transformation into ferrite or ferrite and cementite during COOLING. Ar 3: temperature at which ferrite begins to form during COOLING. Arm: temperature at which cementite begins to form in a hypereutectoid steel during COOLING of the austenite. Ms: temperature at which the austenite begins to transform into martensite during COOLING. Mf: temperature at which the austenite has almost completely transformed into martensite during COOLING. Mx: temperature at which x % of the austenite has transformed into martensite during COOLING.NOTE. In English the above temperatures are also termed ‘critical points’ when referring to a particular alloy.

Definicija (BS)Razlikuju se sljedeće glavne temperature za čelike: Ae1: ravnotežna temperatura definira donju granicu postojanja austenita. Ae3: ravnotežna temperatura definira gornju granicu postojanja ferita. Aem: ravnotežna temperatura definira gornju granicu postojanja cementitata u nadeutektoidnom čeliku. Ac1: temperatura početka formiranja austenita u toku ZAGRIJAVANJA. Ac3: temperatura na kojoj se ferit potpuno transformiše u austenit u toku ZAGRIJAVANJA. Acm: temperatura na kojoj se cementit potpuno rastvara u nadeutektoidnom čeliku. Ar1: temperatura na kojoj se austenit potpuno transformiše u ferit ili ferit i cementit u toku HLAÐENJA. Ar3: temperatura na kojoj počinje da se formira ferit u toku HLAÐENJA. Arm: temperatura na kojoj počinje da se formira cementit u nadeutektoidnom čeliku u toku HLAÐENJA od austenita. Ms: temperatura na kojoj se počinje transformacija austenita u martenzit u toku HLAÐENJA. Mf: temperatura na kojoj je austenit gotovo cjelokupno transformiran u martenzit u toku HLAÐENJA. Mx: temperatura na kojoj x % austenita je transformisano u martenzit u toku HLAÐENJA . NAPOMENA. U engleskom jeziku gore navedene temperature se također nazivaju “critical points” kada se odnose na pojedinačnu leguru.
